Bakhtiyor Sheraliev joins ZooKeys as subject editor

The ZooKeys editorial team is pleased to welcome Central Asian ichthyologist Bakhtiyor Sheraliev as the journal’s newest subject editor.

Bakhtiyor Sheraliev is an ichthyologist from Uzbekistan and an Associate Professor at Fergana State University. His research focuses on the taxonomy, diversity, phylogeny, and evolution of the fish fauna of Central Asia. He primarily works on loaches (Nemacheilidae), cyprinids (Cyprinidae), and true minnows (Leuciscidae).

He also serves as the Regional Chair for Central Asia in the IUCN SSC Freshwater Fish Specialist Group, contributing to conservation assessments and regional biodiversity initiatives.

Bakhtiyor Sheraliev will be a ZooKeys subject editor for freshwater fishes of Europe and Asia. He regards taxonomic publishing as a cornerstone for advancing our understanding of fish biodiversity and for informing effective global conservation strategies.
