Aslak Kappel Hansen joins ZooKeys as a subject editor for rove beetles

Aslak Kappel Hansen is a Danish entomologist and postdoctoral researcher at the Natural History Museum of Denmark, University of Copenhagen. His research focuses on the taxonomy, ecology, and biogeography of insects, with a particular emphasis on rove beetles (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae). Through ZooKeys, he has contributed to the discovery and description of new beetle species, including a taxonomic revision of European bark beetle genus Cryphalus. He also collected a distinctive new rove beetle species from the Peruvian Amazon, which was later described in ZooKeys as Amazonothops aslaki in recognition of his contribution.
In addition to his research, Aslak founded The Danish Beetle Bank, a digital platform aimed at improving access to information and imagery for identifying Danish beetles. He has also been involved in studies utilizing DNA barcoding and megabarcoding techniques to enhance species identification and biodiversity assessments.
Aslak is excited to join ZooKeys as a subject editor for rove beetles (Staphylinidae). He sees taxonomic publishing as essential for advancing our understanding of insect diversity and informing global conservation efforts.
His professional profiles and publication records can be found on Google Scholar and ResearchGate, where he shares his ongoing research and collaborations.
